Acai berries are the fruit of an acai palm tree.  It is also known as Assal, Cabbage palm, and Amaozian palm berry. It grows in in South and Central America and is abundant in the Amazon rain forest.  Acai berries are considered a “super food” high in fiber, healthy fats, and anthocyanin, an antioxidant.

  • Acai berries may help with weight-loss. Note that there have been no scientific studies that support this theory.
  • Heart health – Acai berries have anti-inflammatory properties that may be of benefit to the heart.
  • Immune support – Acai berries are high in Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Calcium, Iron, and Potassium.
  • These properties are thought to help with age-related brain issues such as Alzheimer’s
  • May help with cognitive function. Further study is needed to confirm this.
  • Anthocyanins are antioxidant which is thought to help with cancer by preventing cancer cell invasion and cell proliferation. Further study of these properties should conducted to show its true effect.
