Gotu Kola is considered to be the Fountain of Life or the Enlightenment Herb. It is a low-creeping perennial that likes hot moist climates.  Generally, Gotu Kola is native to India, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, South Africa, the South Pacific and Japan.  Furthermore, it belongs to Apiaceae family and is related to carrots, celery, and parsley.

Gotu Kola’s is sweet, bitter, and astringent. It is used as a culinary herb.  It has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine where it is known as the “Fountain of Life”. In Ayurvedic medicine it is thought to balance vata, pitta, and kapha.  Similarly, Gotu Kola is considered the “Enlightenment Herb” for its ability to enhance one’s spiritual practice.
